Visit Options for First-Year Students

  • Visiting a campus is the best way to make an informed college choice, so we make it easy for you to meet the people at Iowa, ask questions, and take look around. Choose for a variety of options including Black and Gold Days – our daily visit program that is tailored to fit your schedule.
  • Explore Engineering@Iowa Programs are offered on select Saturdays during the academic year.

Engineering Session and Tour

As part of your campus visit experience, you can choose to attend an Engineering Session with Jane Dorman, Director of Admissions and First-Year Experience and go on a tour with the engineering student ambassadors; This session provides information about the academics, the culture, and the opportunities in the College of Engineering. On your tour of the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts & Sciences you will see some of our renowned teaching and research areas, including classrooms, computer labs, and research facilities. You will also stop at the Engineering Tutorial Center, the Hanson Center for Technical Communicationsthe Lichtenberger Engineering Library, John Deere Plaza, Pierce Atrium, Fethke Rooftop Terrace, and the engineering student commons.

When making a reservation through the Office of Admissions, be sure to select the College of Engineering session and tour.
